FIGHTING CANCER WITH COMPASSION
IVDP'S SCREENING AND FREE TREATMENT PROJECT FOR SHG MEMBERS
Cancer continues to be a major public health challenge, often claiming lives due to late detection and limited access to treatment. In a proactive step toward combating this issue, the IVDP launched the Cancer Screening & Wellness Project exclusively for its Self-Help Group members.
Through targeted screenings and timely interventions, the project empowers SHG women with knowledge, access, and hope.
This impactful initiative thrives on strong partnerships with leading healthcare institutions. St. John’s Medical College Hospital in Bengaluru lends its expertise in diagnostics and treatment, while St. Louis Hospital in Krishnagiri plays a pivotal role in outreach and screening the SHG women.
The initiative is designed with a bold yet compassionate vision:
Early detection of symptoms,
Modern and effective cancer treatment,
Total elimination of cancer-related deaths among SHG members.
By combining community support, medical excellence, and organizational dedication, the project represents a powerful model for rural cancer care and prevention.
New additions in the cancer screening & Wellness project
Girl children of IVDP SHG members who have lesions or lumps in the cervix or breast are also treated under this scheme.
Those below 50 years of age, who are affected by cleft palate, facial injuries due to fire accidents, or other medical issues, can also approach IVDP for medical assistance.
Youth-Led Blood Donation Drive Supports SHG Cancer Patients
SHG members undergoing advanced cancer surgeries often require urgent blood transfusions. To support this critical need, 110 students from Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, and 150 students from Don Bosco College, Dharmapuri, have voluntarily donated blood.
